Sainsbury's proposals include better links to the store from the town center, with upgraded junctions, vastly improved bus services and an extended footpath and cycleway.

The 380-space car park provides 19 disabled spaces and 15 parent and child spaces to ensure accessibility for all – plus parking for motorcycles and bikes.
Extending the route and frequency of the Number 34 bus is also being discussed, which will connect the store more closely to the town centre and residential areas, plus reduce reliance on cars.
Travel initiatives include:
- Bus stops near the store
- Extending the number 34 bus to the store and trebling its frequency in each direction
- Around 380-space car park with disabled and parent spaces
- Improved site access with new traffic lights and pedestrian and cycle links
- Better local junctions, including Thaxted Road/Radwinter Road, plus new traffic lights
at Debden Road/Mount Pleasant Road
