New choice and new jobs for Saffron Walden
Sainsbury’s is proposing to bring more choice to the Saffron Walden community with a new store at the Granite site on Thaxted Road.
The new store will improve competition, offer more customer choice and provide up to 350 new full and part-time jobs for local people.
The development will include:
- A brand new supermarket providing more choice
for Uttlesford’s residents - Up to 350 in-store jobs, plus construction jobs
- A first-floor customer restaurant with views over Saffron Walden
- A 380-space car park
- Improved cycle and pedestrian links to the
town centre - Cycle parking facilities
- Upgraded junctions close to the site
- The regeneration of a derelict brownfield site
- Unique store design at the gateway to the town
- New landscaping areas around the store
- Plans to extend a more frequent bus service between the store and town centre
